They're also called 'spur-winged plovers' for the yellow spurs on the carpal joint of the wings, used for defense or threat display.

They're not true plovers, belonging to their own 'lapwing' subfamily, Vanellinae.

Taken from a reddit post by Ariffin Cheng (digitalpixels). It's a grey and white bodied bird with long black flight feathers, a yellow head with strange fleshy mask, and orange legs tucked behind it. On the leading edge of the wings is a yellow spike, half the length of the duck-like beak. "The masked lapwing is an uncommon introduced resident here in Singapore. It is one of my favourite birds to shoot as I really love its unique facial feature. Also not forgetting they have these spurs on the wings used to fight off other birds like crows and the likes.
