Yes, was gonna say. Saw a mom armadillo with 4 pink babies trailing after her in full daylight, once, and a few more in the day in Texas and once, shockingly, in Missouri. And that’s just the live ones, not counting the poor roadkill dillos. But Jesus wouldn’t have seen those—no highways.

Those poor dillos though. I harvested one once for the bones and it was horrendous but eventually real neat. 😅

Apparently, they’re showing up for the water. The deck is gone. They can’t find a place to hide their fat asses (they’re HUGE) now that’s near the house.
I do miss the armadillo and the opossums. (Evidence suggests the dillos are still nearby. They love the hillside compost area.)

That National Geographic subscription my grandmama got me when I was a kid really comes in handy knowing what critters to avoid. Yeah, dillos carry leprosy. Marmots carry bubonic plague. Deer? Deer ticks. Lyme Disease. Bush meat (read: bats)? Ebola.

I'm good with the dillos. They are peaceful creatures by their very nature. Hence why they roll into balls when threatened.
Is it trying to attack you? Usually you can just carry them right back out. Definitely wash your hands after though. It's like picking up a tortoise.
