Also the police response to a report of serious online harassment seemed effectively the same as a dinnerlady telling you to stay away from the kid bullying you in the playground - which didn’t work with playground bullying and certainly doesn’t work with stalking.

I forget some people know nothing about football. Offered my sister £10 to name a current footballer and the club he plays for.
The very closest she came was Cristiano Ronaldo who plays for “Madrid, Barcelona and Spain”.

My mum had an enormous zest for life, despite being worn down by the stress of money worries and everything else. At one time she had three jobs - dinnerlady, plus moonlighting as a cleaner and waitress. But she was always singing and dancing around our flat. She had a lovely voice too.

You know what I mean. It's hard to describe but it has never existed since, almost like a motorbike helmet of curly hair, but with no spring in it. She's a dinnerlady or someone's nan. She's crabby

Same in the UK. My grandparents were a psychiatric nurse and a school dinnerlady, and bought a three-bedroom house in the southeast. My dad left school at 15 with no qualifications and became a lawyer (not immediately).

I grew up in the East Midlands with Scottish parents, so called it a roll at home, but a cob when asking for one from a dinnerlady. I then moved to Swansea in my 20's and nobody knew what the fuck I was talking about! 🤣
