You jest but this is the route to that one sapient dinosauroid model that plagued 1990s kids.

I'm just glad they didn't use the Dinosauroid(IYKYK).

THROWBACK THURSDAY (on a Monday night)

From 1986: the Academy of Natural Sciences' old Stenonychosaurus diorama, featuring Ron Séguin's classic model based on the work of Dale Russell. Dinosauroid companion blissfully not included.

#StarTrek, the original series premiered #OTD in 1966. Every incarnation of Star Trek introduced several alien life forms. The episode “Distant Origin” (Star Trek: Voyager, 1997) plays with the infamous “Dinosauroid Hypothesis” #StarTrekDay paleonerdish.wordpress.com/2016/08/30/w...

what is and will always be: a body adapts to an environment.

intelligence listens and learns, teaches and tells stories.

the organism is just the outside form, the function stays the same.

whenever I imagine a Corvid society in a world after man, I imagine CM Koseman / Simon Roy’s Dinosauroid.

It’s a spec evo if dinosaurs never went extinct. A classic in the genre.

I’ve never seen it done with this much care and complexity.

Art, culture, history.

Humanoid Dilophosaurus?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinosau.... Instead of the Troodon/Stenonychosaurus, it's the Dilophosaurs from Jurassic Park?

I was pretty surprised to see it when I got my copy. They’d shove the Dinosauroid into just about everything back then, no matter how little sense it made!

On the last page of Mammal Evolution: An Illustrated Guide (by R. J. G. Savage), the nature and future of humanity are briefly discussed. Right below this is a picture of Dale Russell’s dinosauroid. Something about that feels diabolical to me.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqCA... I honestly don't know where he found ufologists that think grey aliens are dino sapiens. Can he direct me to them? Sometimes I think I'm alone. BTW personal fact - I thought grey aliens are dino sapiens long before I saw Dinosauroid.

Wow, these figures are so detailed and creepy cool! The textures and colors really bring the Dinosauroid to life, and its bright, intense eyes are super striking. The way the dinosaur-like creature interacts with the humanoid figure is really fascinating and makes you wonder about their story!

Finally finished "First Frontier" by Diane Carey & Dr. James I. Kirkland. It's been a rough *checks notes* uhg! 4½ months, with real life imposing over my reading schedule, which set me back quite a bit. But I finally got back to it.

I need to reread this classic TOS novel. I first read it when it came out in 1995. I don’t remember much about it besides time travel shenanigans and humans being erased from time because the asteroid didn’t hit. Kirk and crew of course have to restore the timeline.

When I was young I read about the mapinguary in a book about rainforests and it was described as a one-legged monster that hopped through the forest attacking anyone it met. For some reason it really freaked me out & in my head I pictured it as looking like the dinosauroid ⬇️

For what it's worth, I enjoyed doing the dinosauroid section and that's largely why I got involved. I knew there was a risk that the final product might be dodgy in places...
