FFRF applauds Massachusetts AG Andrea Joy Campbell for exposing the staggering scale of clergy sexual abuse across three dioceses.

Religious institutions must never be above accountability.

Because the new Pope is American, most dioceses in the United States will be able to purchase necessities like incense and communion wafers without paying tariffs.

Pope Leo just made his biggest appointment yet.

He picked a pro–women’s ordination priest to lead one of the Church’s most influential dioceses.

Vienna is now ground zero for Leo’s vision: unity in diversity.

several of us are conspiracy-theorizing that bishops may have been notified before the public announcement was made, or at the very least bishops in dioceses where there's an SSPX stronghold, since more than one of them had a letter ready to go AWFULLY FAST
Mmm, I bet! And it's a subtext catch I'm kicking myself for not seeing yesterday. But had I been awake when Kansas and Ogdensburg put out their letters, I'd have thought the exact same: that unified message from two dioceses thousands of miles apart screams the Vat has let them know on the quiet.

every catholic church by papal decree requires a relic. these relics provide different bonuses to their respective dioceses. relics with similar bonuses in adjacent dioceses can produce additional synergy bonuses

I don’t know why I’m posting this but I’ve been thinking a lot about my younger self, especially this version — a girl in the middle of political discovery while also being stalked by a classmate + silenced by the dioceses — and I hope she can feel my support radiate back a decade.

That's at least how many Catholic clerics abused nearly 1,000 children over a century across three Massachusetts dioceses.

Good to know. Thanks New York Times.

Today, my office released a report detailing the findings of our investigation into child sexual abuse in the Catholic Dioceses of Fall River, Springfield and Worcester.

It is my profound hope that this report honors survivors and serves as a catalyst for MA to ensure the safety of our children.

Because of the several decades of dioceses playing Liability Hot Potato with sex abusers in hopes they would become Someone Else's Problem, there have been multiple changes to the administrative process of incardination that involve a much more extensive and well-documented Permanent Record.

“I have asked the clergy of the diocese to make sure their affairs are in order and they have written their wills.,not the time for statements. It is time to put our bodies between the powers of this world and the most vulnerable”. Rob Hirschfeld, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire

if you want to see something really hopeful, look up The Synodal Way, a movement emerging from Germany and Austria which is extremely pro women & LGBTQ rights and forceful abuse reforms. they're quite controversial with the old guard but phenomenally popular in their dioceses and a growing force
