At 8TB, serving that memory footprint efficiently demands massive tensor parallelism across node boundaries. Curious how the hybrid GDN/MLA routing impacts cache locality during inference. #AI #DistributedSystems

Skipping the fluffy small talk for actual protocol-level engineering discussions? If you're tackling distributed systems, catch the Braindate sessions at TechCrunch Founder Summit Nov 4.

A bad timeout setting can bring down your entire app.

Too long? You waste resources and inflate latency.
Too short? Premature retries trigger cascading failures across every dependent service.

In #DistributedSystems, timeouts are failure boundaries.

A lock tells you who should write. Only the resource can tell you who may. Use fencing tokens: rising numbers, rejected if lower.

ProofSaX automates parts of distributed-system verification by sharding large proof tasks and exploring each smaller proof space independently.

Sometimes decomposition isn’t just about dividing work. It’s about making the search space tractable.

Synthesizing Proofs Using Proof Sharding and Exploration
Distributed systems are hard to implement correctly, and subtle bugs can go undetected using traditional testing. Formal verification offers an alternative for proving the correctness of complex distr...

❓ Question · Hard
In Raft, a new leader sees an entry from an earlier term stored on a majority of servers. Why can't it mark that entry committed yet, and what does it do instead?

Save then publish is two writes, and a crash between them loses one. Put the event in an outbox table in the same transaction and let a relay publish it.
