I finished it! I was fascinated by our book club facilitator’s note that Dante was basically writing a memoir to help him work through hard things. From that, I found the book to be extremely heartfelt, contemplative, and deep.

i consider a relationship with the divine incredibly important, i consider that relationship looking like contemplative indifference or rejection acceptable, and in a majority of countries in the global north the government is entitled to barge in and rearrange the furniture about it
for my own part, I am intensely spiritual/religious but a secularist. I consider secularism a major accomplishment of liberal democracy, one that even in my more radical moods I would not see threatened, and I think atheists, freethinkers, and skeptics have a large part in building that

I love my Monday night LGBTQIA+ contemplative spirituality group. I've had a pretty stressful, anxious day, but this community always welcomes me as I am and the Spirit meets me there. I'm always grateful for our shared experience of the Divine.

Tonight's contemplative spirituality group for LGBTQIA+ people and allies was beautiful. We "come as we are, experience the Divine and see what happens." Tonight we had 17 friends from all over the United States and Canada, including a brand-new person who joined us from Bluesky.

Fourteen of us LGBTQ+ folks gathered tonight to experience God together. This contemplative approach to the Divine can be so life-giving, and I'm always grateful for my time with the group on Monday nights.

My heart is still so full, even 2-1/2 hours after the fact. Tonight's contemplative spirituality group for LGBTQ+ people and our allies was really meaningful. 14 of us gathered, from all over Canada and the US, to experience the Divine together.

I'm grateful for tonight's contemplative spirituality group for LGBTQIA+ people. We had 20 people join us from all over the US and Canada, and our friend from India was back! We welcomed one newcomer too. We "come as we are, experience the Divine, and see what happens."

So grateful for tonight's contemplative spirituality group for queer folks and our allies. It was a small group tonight, with several of our regulars unable to join us for various reasons, but still... I always look forward to this intentional space for quiet and rest in the Presence of the Divine.

Don't worry, I'm not going to drum up the "worship" vs "working with" spirits and Gods debate, but I *am* curious to know what alternative terms people use to describe their relationships with the Divine!

A mostly Buddhist contemplative (= meditator), I tend not to use such language per se. But I do feel that there's a miracle going on, which it can make sense to consider or to speak of as divine, and that everything — including our sense of being a self — is a participant expression of That.
