It’s important to find beauty on my morning walks with DixieDog. We had a damp morning in Maine today. #lichen
With a backdrop of the ground covered in brown leaves is a stick adorned with a very pale green leafy- looking lichen. Lying on a bed of brown pine needles is a stick covered with lichens. Some of the lichen reminds me of a delicate coral growth, with many fine “fingers” spreading out from central spines.

A large sinkhole has opened up on the road next to our pond. There’s a drainage pipe to prevent pond flooding, but last year a beaver moved in and he’s plugged the pipe. Apparently the water is finding another path and it’s destroying the road.
