This is probably the saddest poem I’ve written so far. I want to believe humans are inherently good, but goddamn do current events make that hard.

Is this what humanity has come to? War, misery, and terrible actions? Where on Earth has all the empathy gone? Why are hearts turning so cold and hateful? I don’t know what switch flipped in people’s minds To make people not value fellow lives This is not the Earth I was born into Sadly, that planet no longer exists As I look on, I cannot help but ask, Why have we lost our sense of empathy? Is there light at the end of this tunnel? I try to hold on to hope that there is I hate losing faith in humanity I want to think we’re inherently good But how am I supposed to in recent times? Where did all the love and empathy go?
