#DoNotPay
I haven’t heard too many good things about donotpay, unfortunately. How did the toll collector contact you about owing them? There are a lot of toll scam texts and emails out there.

I keep forgetting that bill browder's failson (of donotpay fame) actually is a thiel fellow. That's so funny to go seeking that out when you have billions of dollars looted from russia anyway. Dude is a true believer

Kathryn Tewson getting ready to do for “Influential Women” what she did for DoNotPay dot com
They do, however, have an email address you can write to for questions about their content. So I did! Let’s see what they come back with. I’m sure it will only strengthen their claims that they’re a legitimate “editorial recognition platform.”

and cancelling the AI subscriiption is going to be a nightmare. (DoNotPay, a "robot lawyer" was IIRC very hard to cancel)

I do not understand why she is so completely anti-AI and LLM. She took DoNotPay and Joshua Browder to court a few years ago where she absolutely was right about the tech but her continued insistence on it being completely worthless is baffling to me.

i mean that literally. he primarily makes his money marketing for the worst AI companies on Earth. he's done work for DoNotPay, which is a fake LLM lawyer, and Joi, which is ... uh ... AI porn.

he's convinced he's being dog piled right now. I suggested he Google DoNotPay

That innovation is certainly not going to come from Westlaw, nor is it going to come from the likes of DoNotPay.

If you think the mostly polite engagement you're getting after coming at Kathryn Tewson loud, wrong, and with a demonstrable lack of understanding of how legal research is conducted and checked by lawyers is a dogpile, maybe take a break and Google an outfit called DoNotPay.

I don't think so. The WIRED piece may have been a smear job but the facts are pretty damning, in that I think agreeing to do PR for fucking DoNotPay, the AI lawyer company, is sketchy as all hell. So either he's a liar or his sketch detection is incredibly screwy.
March 6, 2026 at 11:12 PM
I still can't believe Zitron was preaching about the evils of AI while working for DoNotPay, a company even broadly pro-AI folks considered super sketchy.
March 5, 2026 at 4:55 PM
The bombshell was that one of his clients was not just an AI company but specifically DoNotPay, who are suuuuper sketchy and kind of an avatar of everything Ed says he's against?
October 28, 2025 at 12:59 PM
Yeah hearing "Ed Zitron worked PR for DoNotPay" for me was like hearing "Cory Doctorow worked PR for Facebook."

Like, either you really do not believe the things you said you did or you don't research your sponsors.
