Some say, he takes away cursed and unwanted newborns, and keeps them as pets… and when his "pets" die, Leshy devours their corpses.

In #JapaneseFolklore, the akateko is a #yokai that takes the form of a red, disembodied child's hand. The akateko drops from the branches of Japanese honey locust trees to 'surprise' those below. Thankfully it is otherwise harmless.

In East Slavic lore, Leshy isn’t just a solitary creature, Leshie are species.

Their ladies (Leshachikhy) appear as young tall and beautiful ladies dressed in red. They never leave footprints and can take the shape of your relatives.

In East Slavic folklore, a hare is addressed as "Father Hare" and associated with the sun and the world of the dead.
