Was Vancouver City Council’s decision to extend the Granville Street Pedestrian Zone beyond the World Cup a “mistake?” Despite its popularity with businesses, residents, etc, some in the media, and a city councillor, have suggested that.

Always great connecting with our downtown champions at @DowntownVan. Council is committed to tackling street disorder on Granville, streamlining patio applications, and expanding childcare in the downtown core. Grateful for the collaboration as we build a more vibrant and welcoming city.

The costs are sanitation, policing and a $1.25 million dollar grant to DowntownVan who is animating.

$4.75 million for 6 weeks.

Nothing permanent in terms of improvements, placemaking - nothing. On Sept 7 it will all be gone along with nearly $5 million taxpayers dollars.
