Since the advent of recorded sound in motion pictures production companies have opted to hire humans to imitate the barks of dogs and wolves for some unknown reason. 35 years later this film is no exception.

The first tale evokes a person named Valdemar, the same name used by Roger Corman for at least one of his horror films adapted from Edgar Allan Poe and starring Vincent Price.

The first "portmanteau" horror made by Amicus Productions. According to Milton Subotsky, he was inspired to write a multi-story horror movie by his admiration for Ealing Studios' Dead of Night (1945), which used a similar format.

Dr Schreck's deck is the 1930 Paul Marteau version "Marseille" Tarot, based on 1760 woodblocks by Conver. The industrialization of printing in the 1880s meant greens and sky-blues were eliminated as designs were limited to 4 colors

Producer/writer Milton Subotsky was so enamoured of the £400 hand constructed for the film that he reused it in his subsequent movies Tales from the Crypt (1972) and And Now the Screaming Starts! (1973).

Roy Castle genuinely played the trumpet, though expertly ghosted his performance here to the performance laid down by Tubby Hayes. He released "Dr. Terror's House Of Horrors/Voodoo Girl" as a 7-inch 45 RPM vinyl in 1965 (CBS 201736)
