Nearing the completion of Chapter 01 of my original #DND #Fantasy #Western setting, SAGEWIND's first story.

And after a bit of Racism towards Drow by a masked gunman, Councilman Valek Drazzo ends up saying a really poor turn of phrase when you're currently being held at gunpoint...
“Good choice,” the gunman chuckled, gesturing with his pistol for the Drow to move it along. “Let’s go, I’m on a schedule.” Gritting his teeth, Councilman Drazzo reached down onto the side of his desk. And sliding his finger along an eldritch design that glowed with each pass of his hand until it shone bright in one finished pattern, a latch came undone before the leftmost section of his desk popped open. Revealing a relatively small metal box covered in intricate swirls of silver and copper scrawl. “Don’t try anything funny,” the gunman warned Valek, knowing full well what secret compartments may contain. “I know how your kind are.” With a scowl, Valek reached into the compartment and angrily pulled out the box before tossing it towards his hostage taker. “My kind?” Valek growled, his suspicions rising. “You sound an awful lot like someone I know.” “One and the same,” the gunman approved, his voice proud and boastful. “Which is why we need these maps of yours, Councilman.” It was in how he said that word, “councilman”, drawn out and with a slight smarmy tinge to it. It was at that moment Valek Drazzo knew who had sent the gunmen and why. He knew who the gunman standing before him was. “You got what you came here for. Now I demand you leave us in peace.”

It's partly why Sarek is the one put on the case involving the murder of Councilman Drazzo and his family in Chapter 02.

His head officer knows that despite being a "by the book" type of lawman, Sarek is also the kinda cop who knows how to bend the rules in the right way for everyone's benefit.
