#Drift-current
Icebergs of East Greenland 🇬🇱

Icebergs in East Greenland originate from massive calving outlet glaciers like Helheim and Karale. These freshwater ice giants drift along the coast via the East Greenland current, creating incredible natural sculptures.

So we drift on, fast cars against the current, borne back furiously into the past
Then out spake Brave Toretto, the champion of the race,
"To every driver on this earth comes Fury soon or late;
And how should man race better, than facing Furious woe,
For the honor of his family and the pink slips of his foes?"
The city is his possession:
he roars through it, head held high,
leaving rubber upon the cobblestones.
He is king, he does whatever he wants,
blows through crosswalks, takes a man's pinks,
has his daughter on the back seat.
No one dares to race him.
But the people of Uruk cried out at his fury

On Jan 6 1912, Alfred Wegener presented his theory of continental drift and supercontinent Pangaea's breakup into today's continents. Despite initial rejection, modern seismology and ocean drilling in the 1950s/60s validated his ideas, leading to the current understanding of plate tectonics. ⚒🧪

None of the animals on Madagascar share any lineage with the animals on mainland Africa because Madagascar was originally part of the Indian subcontinent and moved to its current location via continental drift.

I think there's a serious chance we drift even further into kleptocratic oligarchy post-Trump, but long-term fascism seems less likely to me.

At least with this current crew.

Utah's leftward drift — alongside leftward *LDS* drift (or, more precisely, a drift away from the current Republican Party) — is real.

It's also difficult to quantify precisely for a few reasons, but frankly deserves its own well-funded research project/robust survey, if you ask me.
A few things going on in Utah: Latter-day Saints becoming less Republican, Utah becoming less LDS, plus maybe a comedown from unusually high support for Romney in 2012. Still, notable that while most of America moves right, Utah and surrounding areas are going the other way.

A nudibranch standing at attention! I think it is waiting for the current to pick it up so it can drift away somewhere farther than its foot can carry it.

Something to note is that we have one poll of the political leanings of passport holders from like 2019 (so probably less than current, based on suburban drift) and it found the group to be like D+11.
I've squinted as this bill for awhile versus the current coalitions and have been kind of convinced it might hurt Rs more than Ds based on where low propensity voters are

The changes here likely indicate the GOP now agrees with me.

genuinely though i think neomercantilism is a far better lens for understanding the current era than neofeudalism

among other things, it explains the drift towards imperial dreams we're seeing among the great powers far better than the neofeudal lens
if there weren't so much else going on i would be writing constantly about pettis+klein's TRADE WARS ARE CLASS WARS, which--though they wouldn't use the term--basically demonstrates that we are living not in a free trade era but in a *neomercantilist* era

A gradual northward shift in the Gulf Stream has provided more evidence that the system of currents keeping Europe warm is weakening. And modelling suggests that abrupt shift in the Gulf Stream could signal an imminent, catastrophic collapse in the ocean current.

Shift in the Gulf Stream could signal ocean current collapse
Models show that as the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation gets weaker, the Gulf Stream will drift northwards. There are signs that this is already happening, and a more abrupt shift could wa...
