Spiral Knights is such an oddity of a game, because it shows its age and isn't apparent in its uniqueness (aside from the gorgeous artwork) from the get-go, but if you play it with a full party, you'll find it's one of the most successful attempts at making dungeoncrawling Feel like dungeoncrawling

Spiral Knights is such an oddity of a game, because it shows its age and isn't apparent in its uniqueness (aside from the gorgeous artwork) from the get-go, but if you play it with a full party, you'll find it's one of the most successful attempts at making dungeoncrawling Feel like dungeoncrawling
I think, if this continues to print, it will be a disappointment to basically anyone who reads it. Not a novel enough take on dungeoncrawling for people are looking for that and a bizarre take on the world that makes the setting feel retroactively worse to play in for any neopets fans.

We've reached the last rooms of the dungeoncrawling era, and it's not coming back. Dungeon infrastructure investment was only ever made possible by post-WW2 tax codes and labor laws, which is why their construction collapsed after Reagan; even high-tech volcano bases aren't being made any more.

Working on the discoveries section for Solarcrawl today. The game is explicitly a take on dungeoncrawling, but in NASA drag.
Consequently, instead of gold pieces, I've had to run up a big, big table of fantastic elements, precursor artifacts, and other oddities to inspire your Homeworld.

Isaac was SO GOOD mechanically that it single-handedly got me into roguelikes (hadn't done any dungeoncrawling either) despite the sophomoric vibes. and here I am again, getting tactics-pilled despite the exact same thing. imagine how powerful he'd be as a designer if he wasn't 'like this' lol
