Book 77 - So I get Strand Bookstore’s quarterly mystery-themed Book Hookup box & the bonus book they toss in is always hit or miss. This was a miss for me, mainly because it’s not a mystery. It’s literary pseudo-autobiographical fiction. Not for me but maybe for someone else! 📚💙

The Book of Durrow is an illuminated manuscript of the Gospels created at an Irish monastery ca, 700 AD. A 17th-century custodian immersed it in water and gave the water to a sick cow, thinking it would cure the cow. For some reason, Johnson reminds me of that guy, I'm not sure why. He just does.

The Saw Doctors are some chancers having a song about Mayo, aren't they? They'd write a song about anywhere. Probably have one about Milton Keynes or the cafe in Durrow the bus stops at on the way from Dublin to Cork.
