#DutchToolChest
Main #DutchToolChest box painted and waxed. I was going for a vintage look, another coat of wax and some more buffing will even the color out and wrapp this box up. Tomorrow I'll start work on the saw till.

#DutchToolChest milestone, the back is on and the top rail and till face are beveled to the side angle.

Still to do: drop front fittings, lid dust seals & fitting, till tool holders, lots of sanding.

Got a friction blister recovering ink. Repetitive motion, nitril gloves, & plyers, a bad combo. Planing the #DutchToolChest lid made it worse. Need to switch gears & heal before returning to the DTC. Back to binding! A bunch of hard back and paper wrap projects to come.

A good day on the #DutchToolChest The structure of the lid is done. The pencil rail/dust seal came out great. I need to clean up the back edge a little but I can do that while I do the finish prep before milk paint tomorrow. Lid first then the chest. Lower boxes next week.

#DutchToolChest sanded & prepped this morning. Painted 2 base coats of black milk paint this afternoon. Tomorrow, 2-3 coats of soldier blue. After the color coats are done a paste-wax top coat will seal it all up. Lower cabs will be done after the main chest is finished.

I am back working on the #DutchToolChest lid again today. I've added a few elements to the basic lid plan; breadboard ends, dust seals, and a pencil ledge. I love the wood rabbet plane, it really removes a lot of material. I hope to be painting over the weekend.

The #DutchToolChest is moving forward at a good clip now. The carcass is put together, and the lid slab has been glued. The next big step before fitting the lid & drop-front is shaping and installing the shiplap back.

Research office/print shop/bindery/woodshop/video studio/computer-3D print-electronics-radio lab all in 150 sq. ft. is a squeeze. Not complaining, very blessed, it's just that spacetime is different, everything takes 3-5x longer. Back to work on the #DutchToolChest. #woodworking #reclaimedmaterials

Everything cut for the main #DutchToolChest overnight however, the side boards, which were already cupped, cupped more. Looks like a trip to the lumber yard before I can move forward after all.

Dovetails cut for the #DutchToolChest. After trimming the till floor about half an inch, the carcass will be ready for assembly. Things are going to move fast from here. Busy day tomorrow.

Art of Joinery pictures today after all. Hinges good, squares are square, binding is tight. A couple of bits of blotter stuck to a bit of squeeze out, but a good casing-in. Back in the press to finish drying. Tomorrow, back to the #DutchToolChest to get that done.

Confession: I used a tablesaw to mill this lumber to size. It's reclaimed dunnage and waste meterial, much of it came from the middle of bigger pieces, some of it a bit sketch. Not a #handtool friendly job. The rest of the project will be done sans électricité

More progress on the #DutchToolChest the drop front has its lock bar retainer and battens, the lock bar is fitted and has a handle, and the chest's handles are shaped and installed. Gathering materials for painting this weekend. Working on the lid tomorrow.

Top color is almost done on the #DutchToolChest along with a little painting today, I can start buffing everything with a Scotch Brite pad then onto the paste wax sealer. I can set up the till and start moving in while I work on finishing the lower cabinets. Done this week?
