This comes after the ICC issued a warrant related to Duterte’s role in crimes against humanity during his administration’s “war on drugs,” which resulted in thousands of deaths and many extrajudicial killings.

Bananas. Entirely predictable given how Trump drooled over Duterte’s extrajudicial “drug control” killings, but still really bad

Duterte’s “war on drugs” (aka state-sanctioned mass murder of dissidents and the poor) will probably be a good model for imagining the “mass deportation.”
…of substance for the people. Even Duterte with his bloodbath drug war. Atrocious. But was a big substantive policy change that had wide popular support.

Trump did a lot of horrific things but in terms of actual “populism” as we know it, most of what he did wasn’t big shows of force like that…

They want to kill people. Trump's lawyers argued he could kill his political opponents without criminal prosecution. He praised Duterte's mass murder of "drug dealers." He's ordering extrajudicial killings of fishermen at sea.
The administration is reframing migrants and gang members as “terrorists”, so DHS wannabe operators can do GWOT-style night raids here in the U.S. of A.
Remember when Stephen Miller claimed the Chicago apartment raid was on a building “filled with Tren de Aragua terrorists”?

Well, DHS has now dropped the number of alleged TdA members arrested in the building from 2 to 1.

Trump is a huge admirer of Duterte’s drug war slaughter:

“The Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), whose work was used to justify former President Rodrigo Duterte’s brutal war on drugs, on Wed. conceded that the campaign had not been effective in addressing the root problems of drug use in the country.”
