I disagree with this. 1) Voting frivolously in a non-swing state is free-riding on the moral labor of others—show solidarity. 2) The Electoral College is an antidemocratic travesty. Vote as if it didn't exist to heighten its absurdity—massive popular vote wins with EC losses erodes EC legitimacy.
Yes. The other angle--which often liberals and leftists don't acknowledge much--is swing states vs. everything else. If one is a non-swing state leftist [raises hand], it literally does not matter what we do in the presidential election. Who cares. Swing state lefties it's worth a conversation.

yep. my pitch to people who support the electoral college out of some notion that it gives rural voters greater voice is that in a straight popular vote system candidates would be WAY more likely to spend time in rural places.
Yes and of course it’s depressing that the EC makes it wise to lose by less in rural GA but idiotic to try to lose by less in rural OK.

I dug into the election data today. I now believe it is fair. There doesn't seem to be widespread fraud.
Millions of Democrats and independents in the 43 non-swing states stayed home. Its VERY common to hear people in non-swing states say "My vote doesn't count" because of the Electoral college

Counterpoint: The Electoral College depresses turnout in non-competitive states - why spend an hour voting if your state is going to be 60/40 in either direction. And it disinsentivizes candidates from campaigning outside of swing states. Ending the EC would totally remake the electorate.

The census specifically includes non-citizen residents because the founders *wanted* states to have EC influence relative to their actual population not just citizens. It's a blatantly unconstitutional *and* fascist move to try and reform the government for only citizens.
