The three magi here are one of the only contemporary color depictions of "Sasanian" noble dress. The 6–7th century "Adoration of the Magi" miniature bound into the Echmiadzin Gospels (989). Yerevan, Matenadaran, Ms. 2374 (formerly Etchmiadzin Ms. 229), fol. 229r.

Fun fact, first gay/trans marriage in a church was commenced in an Armenian Church near Echmiadzin, according to Sebastían de San Pedro, who visited Safavid Empire and its borderland territories - modern Nakhchivan and Armenia in 1603.

And a #HolyLance described as "the spear which pierced Jesus" in a 13th century manuscript comes from the monastery of #Geghard in #Armenia.

Enshrined in a 17th-century reliquary it is on display at the #ManoogianMuseum in #Vagharshapat (previously: #Echmiadzin) today.
