Araştırmacılar Elkin1 geninden yoksun genetiği değiştirilmiş fareler yetiştirmişler. Daha sonra, kemirgenlerin arka patilerini bir pamuk tomurcuğuyla hafifçe okşadıkları basit davranış deneyleri gerçekleştirdiler.

Araştırmacılar Elkin1 geninden yoksun genetiği değiştirilmiş fareler yetiştirmişler. Daha sonra, kemirgenlerin arka patilerini bir pamuk tomurcuğuyla hafifçe okşadıkları basit davranış deneyleri gerçekleştirdiler.
Normalde, normal fareler pamuk tomurcuğuna yüzde 90 oranında tepki verirlermiş. Buna karşılık, Elkin1'den yoksun fareler vakaların sadece yarısında tepki vermiş.
