Looking forward to seeing many of you in Suzhou 🇨🇳
🚨 New Preprint!!

LLMs trained on next-word prediction (NWP) show high alignment with brain recordings. But what drives this alignment—linguistic structure or world knowledge? And how does this alignment evolve during training? Our new paper explores these questions. 👇🧵

Happy to share that our work on multi-modal framing analysis of news was accepted to #EMNLP2025!

Understanding news output and embedded biases is especially important in today's environment and it's imperative to take a holistic look at it.

Looking forward to presenting it in Suzhou!
🚨New pre-print 🚨

News articles often convey different things in text vs. image. Recent work in computational framing analysis has analysed the article text but the corresponding images in those articles have been overlooked.

There’s plenty of evidence for political bias in LLMs, but very few evals reflect realistic LLM use cases — which is where bias actually matters.

IssueBench, our attempt to fix this, is accepted at TACL, and I will be at #EMNLP2025 next week to talk about it!

New results 🧵
Are LLMs biased when they write about political issues?

We just released IssueBench – the largest, most realistic benchmark of its kind – to answer this question more robustly than ever before.

Long 🧵with spicy results 👇

How do people flexibly integrate visual & textual information to draw mental inferences about agents we've never met?

In a new paper led by @lanceying.bsky.social, we introduce a cognitive model that achieves this by synthesizing rational agent models on-the-fly -- presented at #EMNLP2025!
