Well, probably that the chip crypto library supports RSA and the chip has a crypto accelerator for RSA,
but current ICAO protocols on eMRTD (PACE, TA2, CA3, GAP) heavily relies on ECC (PACE PAKE, ECDH KA, ECDSA DSA), which is order of magnitude faster/convenient.

The right to development offers a practical framework for renewing multilateralism - UN experts
On 3 November 2025, Bonny Ibhawoh, the Chair of the United Nations Expert Mechanism on the Right to Development (EMRTD), addressed the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Mr. Ibhawoh presented the Expert Mechanism's annual report which informs of the EMRTD activities undertaken from July 2024 to June 2025 and summarizes the outcomes of its 10th session held in Geneva in October 2024 and 11th session held in New York in April 2025.

Le Vice-Président du Conseil des droits de l'homme des Nations Unies, Paul Empole Losoko Efambe, a participé le 27 octobre 2025 à l'ouverture de la 12e session du Mécanisme d'Experts sur le droit au développement (#EMRTD) à l'Office des Nations Unies à Genève.
Dans sa déclaration d’ouverture, M. Empole Losoko Efambe a notamment rappelé que le Conseil des droits de l’homme avait souligné que l’élimination de la pauvreté, de la faim et des inégalités demeurait indispensable à la réalisation du droit au développement, et que le Conseil s’était déclaré préoccupé par l’écart croissant entre les aspirations au développement durable et les financements disponibles, en particulier pour les pays en développement.
