Damn…! I really do find the Helly Hansen rain jacket I picked up at Anaconda’s 2025 EOFY sale, perfect for rainy day walks in the bush. It rolls up tight for a snug fit into the day-pack. Definitely hope I’m not channeling any RWNJ vibes on our beautiful National Park trails.

Update erst mal Dein LinkedIn!

The October-November stretch is the right window for a law firm IT audit.
After the EOFY crunch. Before the year-end settlement season. Enough runway to look at the findings and actually act on them.

Card services fees are fully tax deductible at EOFY and the GST component is an immediate input tax credit. To raise prices because they can no longer add a card surcharge, is double dipping.

At the point in my career where I'm mostly doing devops and project/consult work outside of high severity issues.

That also means when nothing is on fire and projects aren't touching my scope (or we're in EOFY change freeze), I am so bored.

A scripting monkey with no bananas if you will.

EOFY is no time to be running an IT audit. You're at full pace, system changes are risky, and nobody has the bandwidth to act on findings.

The best part of being in the .gov orbit on 30 Sept is mentally reading EOFY as "everyone, fuck you"

I would suppose that she hasn’t spelled out the fact that any money returned to the wage earner was tax free but is no longer - therefore tax will be due on it at the EOFY.

I’m having a lot of fun colouring with a stylus. Thank you EOFY discounts!

We don’t want to be doing *our* EOFY stuff (which is a lot of work) at the same time as our customers are doing *their* EOFY stuff (which is also a lot of work for us).

Just a matter of spreading the workload around..

Also if you’re not on PAYG and fail to deduct HECs from any sole trader income, they’ll take it out of your FTB at EOFY

Reading/writing this from the gym. First workout in weeks as well. Needed break from EOFY work craziness.

The ‘sugar high’ of discounting, and what it costs retailers later
New research from James Hurman and Klaviyo finds heavy discounters grow the slowest of all, right as retailers plan their EOFY sales. Retailers gearing up for end-of-financial-year sales have new research to weigh up first. A study released by marketing effectiveness expert James Hurman and CRM platform Klaviyo has found that brands offering the deepest discounts consistently post the lowest growth rates, a pattern the researchers say holds across every price point. The report, titled Sugar High! The Sour Truth About the Real Cost of Discounting, draws on two datasets: Klaviyo’s global growth-rate analysis of retail customers segmented by discount intensity, and Profit Peak’s analysis of the revenue, margin and customer behaviour of Australian brands that discount frequently versus those that don’t.

I weep for my teenage self who used them to draw comics, I cry for my art school self who used them for illustration, I mourn for me now who purchased a stack of mechanical pencil things for EOFY reasons and hesitated at the blue leads because ‘walk before you run Luce’ and swore I’d come back

Right now is a clear window of hope to secure a national Human Rights Act.
