i realize that all of this is insane stuff is equally insane but the one which really makes me grind my teeth is anti-Somali racism. this is a historically very well-attested population in Europe and the Middle East, and everyone up until very recently treated Somalia as a peer civilization!
The racists latched onto ancient DNA and population genomics, not because that scientific framework proves that they're right but because it gives them the appearance of legitimacy with which to make the claims they already wanted to make.
