Like writing for a career is like the most complicated way to play the lottery ever because this is exactly true. When it was time to ask for blurbs for ETIKTE, I wrote my wishlist and “Stephen King, lol” was on that number one spot and Jim Butcher and Neil Gaiman were next
One of the hardest things about a writing career is being aware that success always includes some element of luck and knowing every day that if Stephen King picked up your book and tweeted about it or if Obama saw it in an airport, you'd have it made. So you do the work and pray for the luck.

I don't know if you knew this, but Mark Carney wrote a book (looks like it published the same day ETIKTE did, that's interesting.) I picked it up because the title is Values, and I am curious about what he had to say.

I said this in response to a reader showing me photos of a horrible quality hardcover of ETIKTE. It’s so bad. I can’t shake the feeling it’s a fake. Can you get POD hardcovers? Or is someone profiting off my work while this isn’t even a joke
I’m not going to win the lottery on Friday because I can’t spare the cash for a ticket

I don’t mind content metadata but I hate that it’s weaponized. Like if a reader doesn’t want to read period typical oppression today then they don’t want to read ETIKTE today. That’s fine! But it’s frustrating when people get upset with me for writing nonsquee.

I just finished reading ETIKTE this morning, and although it is a perfectly compelling and complete story, I am hoping that there will be more stories featuring Helen and Edith in the future. 🤞😊

ETIKTE is about a lesbian in 1941, and it’s got a metaphor covered sex scene, period appropriate sexism/racism, and they visit an insane asylum and that talks about early ect and aversion therapy so you might want to be around to talk about it. Also gore. And black magic.

second - ETIKTE couldn't be coy about the gay if it tried and a couple things happened that I'm sure were a coincidence:
1. a number of big online bookstore websites didn't actually put the cover on their websites if you did a search

Oh heck! The whole Kingston Cycle was printed in Chinese. The first two books have a German translation. The first book has a french translation but alas that publisher was *not* interested in others.
TMB has a German translation and a beautiful french edition.

Oh heck! The whole Kingston Cycle was printed in Chinese. The first two books have a German translation. The first book has a french translation but alas that publisher was *not* interested in others.

but does it? Looking at the sales? If Witchmark wasn't *so* successful there wouldn't wouldn't have been a TMB or an ETIKTE, because the book 2 and 3 sales just don't get anywhere close. if I had published them all without the TMB interruption I wouldn't have a career.
