You know how people get really worked up over 3x levered ETFs and ETNs? Well crude futures are 9:1 leverage. And options on those have even more embedded leverage. CME risk management and margin calls are VERY good so it's not a systemic risk (IMO) but it does drive huge amounts of volatility.
