i feel similarly about eusocial insects and redwood groves but lack a different word

The human-LLM relationship is eusocial and I am their queen

Babylon but the Babylonians are giant monochromatic eusocial stomatopods

[!]: There should be more bug-themed drone #TF, imo. I mean, eusocial insects pretty much already operate under IRL drone rules, so you’d think they’d make a more common pairing.

Day 13: Colony!

today I bring you anelosimus eximius, a species of social spider! they do not have defined castes and so are not considered eusocial, but they do live in large colonies that care for each other's young, and cooperate in prey capture and food sharing

Eusocial.

My fear of eusocial insects and their power vindicated as totally rational actually
October 15, 2026 at 6:29 PM
I suspect that the 'biological decision' is that they have been 'unsexed' for the purposes of the eusocial reproductive structure - but agree this stuff is wierd and wierder and wierder the closer you get. Plus biology doesn't care too much for neat conceptual boundaries. All granted.

Like theres an insectoid eusocial military state, unethical lab experiments, there's deep seated childhood friendship, there's push/pull romance, there's WORLD-BUILDING and ORIGINAL SPECIES lore and culture. Its stupidly in depth and I need to YAP.

I bet the FRIEND Cat(?) colony is eusocial like nekkid mole rats.

i could soapbox about eusocial animals like termites and particularly, termite-raiding ants having germ theory and triage systems that they ardently abide by (even when attempted to be disrupted by external application of pheromones that communicate different signals) www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3dL...

New paper in @plos.org Computational Biology highlights the importance "of apparently 'lazy' individuals in eusocial societies" and suggests "that they contribute to colony resilience rather than representing inefficiency" 🧪🐝

iirc the accepted theory for the development of eusocial insects specifically is: if you're all sisters, helping each other out DOES pass on your genes, even if you only share some of them. not hard to look at this and extend it to realize that community is a protective strategy as a whole!!

Yet when an actual raid falls apart people get extremely angry. And no hive mind is an actual thing. Eusocial animals actually have hive minds. How do you think ants and bees form coordinated swarms. They communicate view a unique type of intelligence via chemical pathways and behavior.

oh absolutely, insects (eusocial especially) are suuuper cool to look at with this in mind. I did a research project once in my undergrad looking at rates of asexual vs sexual reproduction in a species that could *theoretically* have a way to chose between them. lots of cool strategies in nature!!

So students of Christianity, like the Church clergy who chose Mathias as her focus ... of beatification in ... lifelong study, had pointed out teaching at a Christian Children Students Camp: that Paul was not an original disciple--Peter--Mathias "bees", to gamble eusocial. A probability: drawn lots.

Reasons for the changes.
There is a eusocial species of Pistol Shrimp, as in they have a queen, like bees.
The Kabuto joke I made (Kabuto is a horseshoe crab pokemon)
Immortal Jellyfish are quite literally immortal, and Leif is very old.

We are still just animals competing for survival and the more difficult that is the more desperate and savage we become. We are not a eusocial species and cannot act as one.

I think working with human nature instead of against it is going to see better results.
October 10, 2026 at 10:23 PM
you can always improve, even if you need help to improve,

that doesn't mean you don't deserve to get better,

being human means you're eusocial and may need help from time to time,

and being human means that people will gladly help without feeling burdened by it in the slightest,

I have lore worms. kind of a biopunk psudo-dystopia (or at least it looks like it from the outside, it's more eusocial so the people inside have no problems with it). But it's also very #nfsw in a guro-adjacent way so I don't know how much I want to make it real.

Oh I love her!! I'm fascinated by wasps overall, eusocial animals are fascinating in their whole own right but parasitoid wasps deeply fascinate me, and the onesie thing is a brilliant idea!!
October 5, 2026 at 4:37 AM
I spent some time learning about eusocial wasps because I was working on my fear of them lol education always helps me with irrational fear. So I do appreciate those guys, we see a lot of them because of our reclaimed prairie meadow lawn insect utopia lol but man, those parasitoids...
