#EWAC2026
Today marks the start of #EWAC2026, focused this year on the need to act together against cancer inequalities.
This message is closely connected to CO-CAPTAIN, a Horizon Europe project that works on more inclusive cancer prevention for people experiencing mental ill-health.
CO-CAPTAIN concludes its work towards more inclusive cancer prevention for people experiencing mental ill-health - KVELOCE
Funded by Horizon Europe and coordinated by the Medical University of Vienna, CO-CAPTAIN started in June 2023 with a clear objective: to design, implement and evaluate a Patient Navigation model tailored to people experiencing mental ill-health, in order to improve their access to cancer prevention and screening.

On Day 2 of European Week Against Cancer, the focus is on the importance of early detection - finding cancer early when it can be easier to treat.

Screening can:
• prevent some cancers before they start
• find cancer at an early stage.

Early detection saves lives, and access to screening should never depend on where you live.
Inequalities in access to prevention and early detection still exist across Europe. During #EWAC2026, we advocate for equitable access to screening for all, regardless of postcode.
