Lakota land is being violated by drilling, being used to scout for graphite and further exploitation of their land. Indigenous sovereignty being violated for resources is nothing new. This is just the continuation of exploitation of indigenous people and land with state violence behind it.
Lakota youth have locked down onto the drilling equipment at Pe’ Sla. An alter has been set up and community members have offered prayers. The drilling company said that law enforcement is on the way.

Nothing is really ever "protected" bcuz the US govt claims "plenary power" no matter what kind of treaty, agreement, law etc anyone has w them. What they do depends on who's in office at the time.
