#Earthdawn
The world of Earthdawn has been so masterfully built, it remains a personal favourite despite only playing the game once. Here's a great video on it: youtu.be/fzTeR6V4QGM?...

I have one (one!) memory of the Earthdawn book and it was that at max level, Bards get an ability called “The Kiss” that lets them charm someone of “the preferred sex” with a magical passionate kiss

Sounds like rough phrasing for 2026 but in the early 90s that was surprisingly progressive

I learned today that Earthdawn is the past and Shadowrun the future, of the same TTRPG world. (insert Keanu Reeves "Woah")

@holothuroid @mitvorteil Schließe mich dem Earthdawn an. Die haben Taschenlampen und Feuerzeuge, benutzbar für nicht magische Chars.

I like the metaphor.

Ever played Shadowrun's lil' sibling Earthdawn?

Disappointing suggests a level of expectation. This rules out things I picked up just to see.

From there I've a couple bigger ones. However, I honestly can't tell you if it was the TTRPG itself, or the GM's fault.

D&D 4e
Earthdawn

Both come to mind.

You can be a windling in Earthdawn. They're supposedly about a foot tall although the in-game scaling is a bit out of whack.

I don't have any experience with Earthdawn other than the general understanding of the setting concept, lol. That's cool

@mitvorteil

"How did you get into tabletop role-playing games?"

For me it was the Highschool library with the Casus Belli magazine. I kept reading the articles while being completely fascinated by those mysterious games.

My first RPGs were
- DnD
- Shadowrun
- Werewolf
- Earthdawn
- SLA Industries

My memory sucks, so I'm not 100% sure of the order.

1. AD&D Second Edition
2. Amber Diceless RPG
3. Earthdawn
4. Vampire: The Masquerade

The first 5 TTRPGs in the order I played them (probably):

D&D 3.5
Rolemaster 1e
HERO System 5th Ed
D&D 5e
Call of Cthulhu, I think?

This should explain a lot about me, unfortunately, especially considering each of the non-D&D games was a short-lived dalliance over a roughly 15 year span.
The first five ttrpgs in the order I played them, as best as I can reckon:
1. FKR-like freeform (not that we used this term)
2. D&D 5e
