A key election date people don’t talk about enough is Writ Day (which for this election will be 4 October). If you’re enrolled at your current address by Writ Day you’ll be on the printed roll at voting places in your electorate, will be sent an EasyVote card, and can cast an ordinary vote.

You do not need an EasyVote Card to vote.

You do not even need to be enrolled and you do not need to take identification with you when you go to vote.

If you are a NZer over the age of 18, just show up to a polling booth and you will be able to vote.

Pass it on.

If you don't have an easyvote card, someone at the door/entrance will ask your name/address and fill out a card for you. (that basically becomes your easyvote card)
October 4, 2023 at 4:30 AM
Note: You CAN enrol up until the 25th. If possible, you should enrol before writ day, which is the 4th October, so you will be on the printed role and get an EasyVote card. That's three weeks.

Went and voted.
Had my Easyvote card with me.
In and out in less than 5 minutes.
Steady stream of people going in and out.
Love voting.
Nervously awaiting the outcome.

Green voter heading to the polling booth knowing I'm contributing to a potentially hung parliament.

"Do you have your EasyVote card?"

"Yes."

Should we have gotten "easyvote" cards in the mail yet? Or are they not a thing anymore? #nzpol

Worth noting that many people may not receive a physical EasyVote card this time around. If the Electoral Commission has your email address, they’ll send it by email.

How many will end up in a spam folder?

Dear NZers,

Vote, you don't need an EasyVote pack, just go in to your nearest polling booth and vote for what's best for you!

Counterpoint: the Electoral Commission has been making huge efforts to make sure that people are enrolled to vote. This includes historically disenfranchised people.

Also, you can still cast an ordinary vote without an EasyVote card. The process will just take a fraction longer. #nzpol #pōti26
"No, you can't vote, you didn't register. Don't complain, we sent you a reminder weeks ago!

...by mail, of course. How else were we supposed to send it?

Look, sonny-jim, it's not my fault you haven't received mail for the last six months."

Deliberate Disenfranchisement.
“Chief Electoral Officer Karl Le Quesne said the shrinking of NZ Post services was partially to blame”

So, a risk to voters getting information reminding them to vote is a direct consequence of successive governments running down NZ Post.

was gonna vote tomorrow but then i remembered that i can basically do it whenever so embraced that ‘do it when you fucken want’ culture. found my card but if you lost your card? zero fucks my friend, it’s all good, you can just turn up & vote, no big.

Do you have your easyvote card? If you still have the papers that came in the envelope, one of them shows you all of the polling stations in your electorate & when they’re open
October 8, 2023 at 9:03 AM
While I am back on my voting hobby horse, if you have an email address attached to your enrolment, your EasyVote card will be emailed to you rather than posted. Which is mostly fine.

If you enrolled 20 years ago and don't use that email any more...

Anyway. Another reason to check your enrolment.

#nzpol Huh. I guess they are doing EasyVote cards after all.

Except... not by mail. And I'm remembering now that "not by mail" was the important thing.

Got my hair done 😊
And I noticed there's an early voting place in Birkenhead Mall, so it might be worth taking your EasyVote card (if it's arrived) with you if you're going shopping.

It’s for checking enrolment details for those who don’t have an Easyvote card and are unsure about their electorate

Maybe he’s being honest. Who knows for sure? States should consider the EasyVote XL machines from essvote.com . We’ve used them. Fast, simple and a stored paper ballot.

Want to know where to vote but haven’t got your Easyvote card yet?

You can look on a map if you don’t know your electorate & if you do, search for somewhere close to you
