ECDC has published common standards for antenatal screening for HIV, hepatitis B and syphilis.
In 2024, the EU/EEA recorded 196 HIV diagnoses attributed to vertical transmission and 140 congenital syphilis cases.
The standards are benchmarks for care, not new binding EU law.
