A closed editorial loop in PNAS is a stunning example of the kind of COIs that have motivated our research on the topic.

Authors, including Meta employees, published four papers. The editors were also authors, three of whom received meta funding 🧵

Character limits forced people to think about word counts and efficiency in communication. Removing them on X exposed how many people would benefit from editors.

Gonna email some American editors today, almost all of them will be in good mood

Voice actors are artists too. Like translators, like editors, like cover artists, they deserve authors' solidarity in the face of genAI fuckery. We are all in this together.

Are they trying to point out some inconsistency with the editors? To say the editors were bad for spiking an earlier cartoon or good for spiking a later one? They try to catch me out saying the legal threat is “contested” but I think it’s pretty telling that Segal wrote to the chairman about it!

Plainly none of these headline writers/editors checked to see what an omentum is…. 😏
"marcomentum" sounds like some vestigial bit of connecting tissue which makes it impossible to attain erections unless surgically removed

"I'm going to refer you to an in-plan urologist for a marcomentumeactory."
there's no marcomentum, stop trying to make marcomentum happen.

The editors at Mad Magazine were not fooled. This was from 1991.

So much of this was wishcasting by certain newsletter editors in DC. LMAO
flanagan winning by 12 there. the claims that she was in trouble, like the claims about pappas, were complete nonsense.

The editors at the New York Times feel more threatened by a romance columnist than they do by a genocidal rapist in the White House.
Honestly in shock.

@nytimes.com terminated the contract of romance fiction columnist Olivia Waite because she reposted on Bluesky criticism I and @markjacob.bsky.social had of the paper’s lack of coverage of the new rape allegations against Donald Trump.

What's strange is that rather than have editors external to the project, all of the editors are co-authors on one or more of the various papers. Meta employees are on the paper, and three of the authors turned editors received Meta funding. This kind of thing is good press for Meta.

Too bad we can’t vote out newspaper editors who write shitty, weasel-worded headlines.

I say editors because most of the time reporters don’t write their own headlines. Whoever is responsible for shit like this acts as an unelected arm of the state.

(Nov 2025 ICYMI)
Did her car just collide with ICE all on its own? No, ICE hit her car, then dragged her out of it. But you’d never know from this weasel-worded headline in the @chicagotribune.com 😑 www.chicagotribune.com/2025/11/03/c...

I’m not gonna forget the number of podcasters and magazine editors who kept circulating articles about “identity politics” and “ average Americans “

That really meant stop listening to Black people
There’s gonna be a big wave of “anti-woke” pundits who try to revive their careers against now that political winds are blowing the other direction again, and we really really don’t need to entertain that vapid bullshit again
