Inspired tonight by Syrians removing yoke of dictatorship, as brave Ukrainians continue to fight for their homeland. So many around the globe yearning for freedom, democracy, self-determination.

To better days ahead.

has anyone proposed that the president and his friend (Jeff Epstein, the New York financier) could have just been ardent fans of Edward Elgar's music?

Oh to have seen them: Marianne Faithful’s Irina, Glenda Jackson’s Masha and Avril Elgar’s Olga in Chekhov’s Three Sisters at the Royal Court, April 1967.
And now all three are gone.
Marianne Faithful RIP.

Albums where you can sing every word on every song? Keep it believable if not necessarily true.
I can sing along with the whole thing. There’s only Forever Changes, Never Mind the Bollocks and Safe as Milk where I can sing every word in every song. I’d like to add This Nation’s Saving Grace to the list but I’m not sure even Mark could have done that a week after they’d recorded it.

Just heard a student in a practice room switch from drilling Elgar’s Cello Concerto to a run-through of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” which is really indicative of what it’s like to be a musician in December

“A quiet conscience makes one strong!”

— Anne Frank, 1929-1945

German-Canadian cellist Johannes Moser performs Adagio Moderato from Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85.

May we find a quiet conscience, inner strength, and perseverance in an often callous, cynical world.
