Introduce yourself as an anime character
For #horrormeganthon to cover both Saturday and today, I decided to finally get around to both of the Ancient Magus' Bride OVAs. While both are well-made, I preferred the 2nd one to the 1st, as Chise and Elias were more actively involved (versus the first one, which is one long flashback).

BTW no I don't support the Harry Potter franchise anymore.
Much better magic series exist that I love MUCH more.

Ancient Magus Bride s2 13-14 were good. Getting a bit more of the relationships between the new characters is always fun, especially with hindsight. The OP for this cour is absolutely the best visually, so perfect aesthetically and thematically. But I think I like the song for cour 1 slightly more.

S1 Ancient Magus Bride done! God, I love this show so much. Beautiful all around. So excited to start s2 to see how the dub is and see what new things I notice. And huge props to @jessiejamesgrelle.bsky.social they’re unbelievable as Cartaphilus/Joseph in these last 2 eps!

The Ancient Magus' Bride: Those Awaiting a Star
A three-part OVA series that will tell a story that takes place before Chise meets Magus. Angelica sends Chise some magical supplies, including a gift. The gift turns out to be a book that Chise read in her childhood. Elias asks Chise to tell him the story behind the book. Chise tells him about Miura-san and the mysterious library she found in the forest when she was a child.

Ancient Magus Bride 21&22 are so good. The drama of Elias going behind Chise’s back to cure her curse was probably for the best of their relationship in the end. And Chise facing her memories of her mom was so beautiful! I’m so pissed the quality went to shit right as it hit that scene. S1 end next!

Ancient Magus Bride 19&20 were great. This was basically my first watch, I fell asleep at some point originally years ago, so I didn’t recognize most of it. I don’t quite remember what comes of these actions either except for one thing. Also I got jumpscared by Tory having Present Mic’s VA lol

Ancient Magus Bride: Elias Ainsworth Beast Form
Alt: Scene from Ancient Magus Bride. Elias, the animalskull-faced Sorcerer turns into a huge beast covered in fur and thorns, thornwhips lashing out around him while protecting the injured Chise, his female ward and student.
His breath is visible in the temperate air as he angrily stares at the camera with glowing red eyes, its pupils turned into slits.

Ancient Magus Bride 17&18 were nice. I like the little story with Stella & Ethan, and it’s neat how it immediately leads into Elias feeling jealous cause of Chise being friends with Stella. Also I forgot how much shit Cartophilus was up to. Those baby dragons better be ok!
