My earliest outfit sketches for the current "Customer Service" arc in Dark Science. I find that I can't really nail a design unless I draw the characters interacting with each other.
Incidentally it is very funny in hindsight that here I depicting Elith as the timid one and Ling as the hothead.

Another gamble around the same time (in my head) was revealing Elith as trans, and allowing a previously grim character to find themselves and become the goofball fuckboy they were always meant to be.
At the end of the day you gotta write from the heart. Then even if it's messy, it'll be authentic.

Also because of the murky nature of identity the comic, putting together character descriptions is so funny.
"This is Asmodea, formerly "Lilith." Yeah, all three. But *really* they're a pretty boy named Elith. No, not multiple personalities, it's the same person with access to different memories."
