A version with Eccleston got written as far as the Elizebethan sequences, and work was advanced enough on it for Andrew Wildman to be able to sell 9th Doctor storyboards at conventions.

that in 1600 they'd think "oh, a foreigner can't eat this stuff." Also, I would imagine Elizebethan-era cuisine had some equally nasty options.

I think it was used in regards to him, either in the Elizebethan or Regency series.

But then again, what gets canonized as "worthy" is just so unpredictable. Shakespeare is, if you translate it out of Elizebethan idiom, full of dick jokes & scatological humor & stuff we'd put in soap operas. But a bunch of stuffy arseholes in the 1800s decided he was "high culture" so he is.
