This Pied-billed Grebe is a small, diving bird with mostly brown feathers. It has reddish-brown sides on the neck and flanks, a white tail area, a pale or whitish throat and chin, and a short, yellowish-brown beak. This grebe was swimming in a pond with water that appeared green due to reflections of green and brown reeds that lined the edge of the pond.
