Probably James Ellroy. (I’m omitting dead people—too easy.)
Here’s a question: who is the artist with politics you disagree strongly with, whose politics *do* (in your view) influence their art, that you still think is talented and whose work you enjoy?

This thread is one of those “Every James Ellroy book is nonfiction” deals
With SNAP benefits going to shit because of rich assholes and corruption running rampant through politics I'd like to point your attention to a Clinton.

No, not one of those Clintons. This Clinton. Clifford Clinton.

Why is every powerful person in California a James Ellroy character
In Gavin's defense, his dad spent a couple of years hanging out in Europe with an ex SS intelligence officer who got Operation Paperclip'd, so he doesn't have a great role model for "good father figure."

Surely, we can forgive him for being chummy with genocidal Nazis. /s

This reads like if James Ellroy worked at Dunder Mifflin
Here's the full Summers email, btw.

Back in 1992 I got James Ellroy to sign my copy of WHITE JAZZ and his inscription — “Fear the comedy of the patriarchy on the skids!” — is exactly what we’re experiencing right now. Frightened wanna-be alphas who are lashing out for the lulz.

It's amazing reading posts by rw grifters.

They always use short sentences with double line breaks.

It's like reading tweets by an out of breath James Ellroy.

If Ellroy had no tolerance and no empathy.

And no mates.

I strongly second this. Just finished the novel, and I think it's the best ultra-dark L.A. noir since peak '80s-'90s James Ellroy. The plotting is sensational; the writing is electric.
My appetite for ultra nihilistic modern noir isn’t what it used to be, but Jordan Harper’s A Violent Masterpiece has such incredible prose, I got sucked right in and read the whole thing in a rush.
