i would also love to see a single one of these respondents elucidate what "moving to the center" MEANS in literally any of these cases lol
Worth noting that this is actually a meta-question-- it's not "what policy do you think is good?" It's "what policy do you think other, imaginary people would think is good?" This encourages the "Everyone Think Like a Pundit Rather Than as a Citizen" disease that plagues political commentary.

“Cognitive work” is the kind of phrase that serves more to obscure than elucidate
".. 'AI isn’t replacing one specific skill. It’s a general substitute for cognitive work.' When factories automated in the 1990s, an assembly-line employee could be retrained .. 'But .. whatever you retrain for, it’s improving at that too.'"

They all use "elucidate" when they mean "elaborate". To elucidate something is to make it lucid (i.e., to clarify). You elaborate on something to add more layers of detail; you elucidate something to explain it.

Idiot. A Frenchman has no history in common with a German. Imagining they could create a country together is pure fantasy from a deracinated upper class.

No i will not elucidate or debate you on that, here, you can read the several hundred pages I've already written on the topic.
We don't know, w/ even the slightest little bit of anything like certainty, what consciousness or intelligence are, how they arise, or how they work, & every time we've tried to categorize their "human-like-ness" all we actually succeeded at was creating new ways to denigrate & oppress other humans.
The amount of money time and resources won't lead to "human-like" "ai" (whatever that means), but it will lead to a lot of bad things in the GUISE OF this mythic framing. We'll get a whole host of "improved" carceral surveillance tools, out of this, for instance.

Elucidate [uh-LOO-suh-dayt]
(v.)
- To make clear or manifest, throw light upon, explain, render intelligible.

Used in a sentence:
“Permit me to elucidate the matter, as the nub of my gist seems to have taken a most unfortunate detour somewhere between my lips and your intellect.”
