So, I decided to change to Cypher System for my #EmbraceOfTheDepths zombie apocalypse setting and oh boy am I cooking with this one
Maybe some focus will be a bit stronger than I wish, but I will see how it plays out with some gritty optional rules

I been thinking and I will turn #EmbraceOfTheDepths project into a hack for The Walking Dead RPG, with lore relevant changes of course
Mostly bc that game is on YZE and it already had a bunch of work done for me so you know, I don't need to reinvent the wheel
And can borrow stuff from Alien RPG too

#NPCember Day 1 - Courier
Today: Finn Carrara, early 20s, Very Fast Boy™, and eager to please
He volunteered as a courier to help folks in his city, because he like to help and also likes to have money, but he overestimates himself quite often
Day 1 - Courier: It has been a week since the power went out. Food, water and medicine are getting more and more scarce, but people still need it to survive. Some brave folks volunteered to be an improvised courier system for those in need. Finn Carrara was one of those volunteers. Young but agile, he thought he could easily evade the zombie and squids, help folks of the city, and gain a bit of cash during the quarantine. But he underestimated the plague, and soon found himself constantly running into zombies that always seem to know where he is or is going. He can only hope he is fast enough to deliver the supplies in time. Or at least get out alive. Name: Finn Carrara, Archetype: Runner, Strength: 3, Agility: 5, Wits: 3, Empathy: 4, Skills: Crafting 1, Insight 1, Mobility 3, Observation 1, Stamina 2.

I'm so excited to be working on this, and the Year Zero Engine SRD sped up so much of the process
And I'm glad I put another project I was stuck in on hold to work on this, because this one is much easier and lighter to work with

“It's so much darker when a light goes out than it would have been if it had never shone.” – John Steinbeck, from the book The Winter of Our Discontent INTRODUCTION Welcome to Embrace of the Depths. This game is built on the Year Zero Engine, used in several Free League games. The core mechanics for tabletop roleplaying are explained in this document. Embrace of the Depths, or simply EOTD, is a game about survival in dire situations. A mysterious plague carried by strange squid-like parasitic creatures is turning people into zombies. As time goes on the situation of the world gets dire, as more and more people get turned, more places get overrun by the plague, and less people are able, or willing, to help those in need. You and your group must survive in the chaos of this uncanny and otherworldly threat, while trying to keep yourselves fed, safe, and sane. Bandits, opportunistic politicians, and desperate people are also threats on top of the waves of zombies and squid-monsters. Though, no human will ever be able to be as threatening to your own humanity as the plague. It will sneak in your food, your water, your friends, sometimes even your dreams, and it will take everything that makes you human. The depths are always there, waiting for your embrace.
