💥Announcement Saturday 29.08.2026💥 ✊🏾📜EXHIBITION – EMPTY SCHOOL DESKS IN IRAN📜✊🏾 Saturday, 29.08.2026 | 2.00 pm | Haus der Demokratie, Greifswalder Straße 4, 10405 Berlin Directions: Tram M2, M4, Bus 200, 142 to Am Friedrichshain 📣 Call to action: https://asanb.noblogs.org/?p=19316 - @komitee1997 #b2908 #EmptyDesks In January 2026, nationwide protests rocked Iran. Across the country, demonstrators were killed by the Islamic Republic’s security forces. Among the victims were a shocking number of children and young people. The teachers’ unions of the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations (CCITTA) played a key role in organising civil society resistance during these protests. Among other things, they organised the ‘Empty Desks’ campaign to commemorate the pupils who had been killed. As part of this, their names, photographs and life stories were collected and documented so that they would not fade from the collective memory. During the war of aggression waged by the US and Israel against Iran, the CCITTA ran a similar campaign under the slogan ‘Abandoned Backpacks’. Among other things, it documented the names of more than one hundred schoolchildren who lost their lives in late February 2026 during the US bombing of a primary school for girls in Minab. It also called for commemorative events for the victims. On 29 August, the exhibition ‘Empty School Desks’ by the Solidarity Network of Iranian Teachers in Exile will be on display at the House of Democracy. The exhibition consists of a documentation wall several metres long, featuring hundreds of pupils whose fates were documented by the CCITTA and who lost their lives either during the protests in January or during the war. As part of the exhibition, Iranian colleagues will also report on the current catastrophic situation in the education sector, the current circumstances facing teachers and pupils, and the work of Iranian trade unions during the war in Iran. Speakers wil…
