Please stop browbeating parents about corruption being the reason why we can’t have democratic, community-centered @NYCSchools governance. And all this while his #PEP supermajority is simultaneously stripping contract accountability out of the Bylaws. #EndMayoralControl…

Not that I'm THAT important, but as a @NYCSchools Board Member, it still kinda stinks out loud to find out these things in the news… #EndMayoralControl

Somebody please tell me how this works when the the Mayoral supermajority actively suppresses community voice, & when ⁦@DOEChancellor⁩, who is a MEMBER of the board under NYS Ed. Law, won't share the stage with us & isn't even there to hear your voice. 🤷🏽‍♂️ #EndMayoralControl

Tonight, I am so proud to be a Bronxite! Y'all showed up and REFUSED to be silenced! Y'all said what you needed to say and did what you needed to do in the face of @NYCMayor dominated @NYCSchools #PEP to be seen and heard! 🎤#Ubuntu #EndMayoralControl 🙏🏾❤️✊🏾

Manhattan parent board’s anti-trans vote complicates debate over mayoral control of public schools
Progressives want to give greater control of public schools to parents – just not these parents.

I’m so tired of this system playing lip service to our communities while doing us dirty. Despite opposition from the community, Mayor’s appointees rubber stamped a Capital Plan that had no planned new school construction in the Bronx for the next 5 years! #EndMayoralControl

I would say it speaks volumes to who @NYCMayor is when he blames PARENTS for @NYCSchools remote learning infrastructure not working as it’s supposed to, instead of acknowledging the issue and committing to fixing it. #EndMayoralControl #OneTermMayor

We’re your School Board! #District14Strong on Instagram: "Yet another example of Eric Adams selfishness, delusion and disdain for not only NYC parents but the most marginalized amongst us. Rather than acknowledge the lack of fully funded, staffed and appropriately supported infrastructure now synonymous with the system HE controls and annually DEFUNDS, he is passing the buck to parents, many of whom spent DOZENS of attempts and HOURS this morning trying to log into zooms, access google classrooms and engage with digital systems meant to provide alternative options in the case of not only inclement weather, but also the public health and climate disasters we’ve seen more of in the past 5 years than in many of our lifetimes. Perhaps Eric Adams should have prioritized: ✨ Ensuring each child has a device ✨ Ensuring each child has access to either Wi-Fi or a hotspot ✨ Ensuring each family has access to digital support in a language they speak, read and understand fluently ✨Ensuring schools with high populations of asylum seeking families, students in temporary housing and title 1 eligibility were connected to resources they don’t have due to economic status and/ or may have lost/ become unable to pay for in transition When Eric Adams was handed our children’s futures we were told it was to maintain ‘mayoral accountability.’ We don’t know folks. Is that what today felt like? Is that what these remarks sound like? ACCOUNTABILITY?! Sound off in the comments. #EndMayoralControl #EricAdamsDefundedMySchool #DemocraticSchoolGovernanceNow #ParentPower"

Remember @NYCMayor not willing to compromise over budget in 22, basically thumbing his nose @NYCCouncil after realization they were hoodwinked & reversed themselves over $469M @NYCSchools budget cuts? So what’s that veto override count up to now? #EndMayoralControl #OneTermMayor

As we begin the work of making sure that this year’s budget & policies do right by ⁦@NYCSchools⁩ students, families, educators, & communities, I wanted to thank ⁦@CMRitaJoseph⁩ for meeting with advocates to plan what that looks like this year. #EndMayoralControl
December 3, 2024 at 11:46 PM
⁦@GovKathyHochul⁩ you made that sound like you were doing us a favor. The reality is NYS was out of compliance with the law as it relates to #CampaignFiscalEquity for 15 yrs. Yo you really starting to sound like your old boss. #StopHorsetradingEducation #EndMayoralControl
December 3, 2024 at 11:46 PM
⁦@GovKathyHochul⁩ $45M on Youth Mental Health Services statewide is a joke when ⁦@NYCSchools⁩ spent almost 2X that amount just on door locks to turn our schools into forts instead of into the services & supports our students ACTUALLY need. #EndMayoralControl

Interesting how @GovKathyHochul proposed a 4-yr extension of Mayoral Control @NYCSchools before @NYSEDNews finished their hearings & reported back to Legislature. If she believes in it so much, why don’t they have it for Buffalo again? #EndMayoralControl

Educators blast planned cuts to NYC’s District 75 schools for students with disabilities
The cuts would gut extracurricular programming, thin out supply budgets, and exacerbate an already severe paraprofessional shortage.
