jesus fucking christ dude i cannot do another week of discourse about itch not acting swiftly on a matter like there's 30 engineers there working full time instead of literally one person and a bunch of volunteers

“Thanks but nothing I do is vibecoded”

Option A: this person uses AI responsibly, vibe engineers, harness engineers, super smart
Option B: this person takes hours to do something that could be done in minutes
Option C: ?????

stop anthropomorphizing engineers

all software engineers should retrain as civil engineers and use these two skillsets to form Endfield Industries

Why writing is so important for engineers (yes, even in the age of AI)

There are no schedules, not because Ukrainian engineers aren’t doing anything to create them, but because the situation is critical.

russian attacks are the reason.

i've seen both. the engineers usually make job secruity for electricians, the MDs tend to do the same but for other MDs

Just put a reminder in my calendar for November 1, 2026 to check whether we still have bugs

A dude in a van who drives around changing freezer temps manually isn't actually all that expensive compared to hiring software engineers to make a safe and reliable sysyem.

Maybe there's a divide between what Tim wants, and what the engineers want?

Reports of "software engineers can be replaced by LLMs" are greatly exaggerated.

But regulators, carmakers, and engineers don’t want accountability for curbing crashes.

They’d rather say “Road safety is EVERYONE’s responsibility”

If it’s everyone’s responsibility, it’s no one’s responsibility. They can always point to someone else (usually individuals).

LEGO engineers spent 13,000+ hours and over a million Technic pieces building a drivable, life-size Bugatti Chiron. It runs on 2,304 electric motors and tops out around 20 km/h.

Serious engineers (and anyone who employs them) should read Jepsen’s entire analysis. This is a devastating result for “vibecoding” as a practice and we must have a convincing story for why our use of LLMs does not fall into this trap.
this is something that I've been struggling with – there are now a half-dozen new CAD kernels in Rust, all with the same perfectly polished websites and bold claims about performance, test coverage, and quality
