The Major Oak - An ancient English Oak that, according to legend, sheltered Robin Hood. It still stands today. Drawn in pen and ink, coloured in Procreate. #SciArt #oak #oaktree #englishoak #majoroak #robinhood #penandink #handdrawn #micron #procreate #treeart

I call this beauty the "Y Oak" - a veteran lapsed pollard English Oak on the Sherborne Castle Estate.

Weekend weather … grey, dank and chilly … but sheep graze in the meadow at the top of the village near a mighty oak as they have done for centuries unaware of world affairs. Lucky.

I make no apologies for once again coming back to my favourite tree … the Oak that stands in a meadow in sight of my small village home. In colour or mono, it is majestic.

🪵🌳Wirral was once heavily forested. The land being cleared of trees for farming since the Neolithic c.4,000 BC. Old place names reflect this. Landican first named 'Landechene' and nearby Noctorum originally 'Chenoterie' both names French words containing the word oak 'Chêne'.

A lovely birthday spent visiting the 1000+ year old Major Oak in Sherwood Forest. Yes, the one where Robin Hood is supposed to have hidden out.

Spectacular tree, and ancient oaks galore in the forest around 💚

At last, the first hint of green on “my” Oak tree. Last week there was no sign but a few warm, sunny days have made all the difference.
And there’s the bonus of a tiny, heart-shaped cloud, bright in the sunshine.
