Rochester Castle. Standing tall since the 12th Century, it's one of the best preserved examples of it's kind in England and France. It's a fascinating place to explore and I really want to check it out again.

Beautiful Bodiam Castle. The remains of this 14th century stronghold are surrounded by a water moat. Absolutely loved exploring this place.

One of my favourite castles. I can, and did, spend hours exploring Warkworth Castle. Another spot to return to someday... after I've seen all the other spots.

Today's #MomentofTranquility: Dover Castle. This huge imposing fortress sits atop the Cliffs of Dover and has kept watch since the 11th Century. From its medieval keep to its once secret World War II tunnels, it remains one of my #HappyPlaces.

Today's #MomentofTranquility: Beautiful Fountains Abbey. Founded in 1132 by a group of monks that wanted to get away from it all (all being busy York life), today it's one of the largest and best preserved ruined Cistercian monasteries in England.

The impressive remains of Portchester Castle. Its 12th Century keep stands 100 feet high and lies within the best preserved Roman fort in Northern Europe. Roman, Norman, and English history in one spot.
