Your Flesh You have six Flesh. The First Church is interested in Flesh as a concept. Their entire enterprise is the extraction and monetization of someone else's body. And they have built systems to compromise yours. This arrives as bullets, smite-beam deployments, blessed rubber ordnance, and vehicular engagement. Zero Flesh When you hit zero Flesh, you are Gloriously Fucked Up. This is not death. This is the Cathedral's thesis suddenly, to its surprise and horror, encountering a counterargument. This is the anointing of Lucifer, the dark blessing you received for your mission. It is important to remember that even though you can be Gloriously Fucked Up, you cannot be killed, no matter what they do to you while you’re down. Lucifer invested what little of their True Power they desperately held onto into you. Even if the pure Archangel of Death herself descended, she could not even stand in your personal space. You are denied to Death. You didn’t have much chance to ask the price, you didn’t really think too much on it, and the agreement you signed makes your eyes water just trying to think about the fine print. But the price seems self-apparent. You’re not normal people anymore. After your first experience with Wreckage, you’re not even sure if you’re even human anymore. What should kill you just changes you. You can be mutilated or even dismembered while down. The world doesn’t care. (You probably will, because you’re very awake and still very connected to your senses.) If in pieces, someone squeezing any two pieces together starts the healing. The scattered parts of you will crawl, roll, whatever they need to do to return together in a span of seconds. If any are physically blocked or inaccessible, they fall from small screaming portals of black fire and tormented faces. When you are Gloriously Fucked Up, someone spends their action to get you moving by manually pulling the pieces together or squeezing the wounds closed, a twisted laying on of hands. That is the cost to trigger the transformation and move again. The first time each Zone you reach 0 Flesh, you reconstitute with a Wreckage Tag, your Flesh is fully healed and restored to maximum. You are immediately ready to fight on, though the experience carries with you along with the Wreckage you acquired. Each time thereafter in that Zone, you reconstitute with 3 Flesh and no additional Wreckage Tags. However, you have the option to change any existing Wreckage. But you do not gain the benefit of the first “resurrection” so you still only regain 3 Flesh. Wreckage When you make a Wreckage Tag describe the part, damage, and adaptation created in a gruesome resculpting of blood and bone. Left arm, gone, replaced with a writhing cluster of dexterous blood tentacles. Stomach, entrails left in hanging tatters, upgraded six-pack with six shotguns. Right shoulder blade, shattered, a (snarky) snapping turtle head emerged like a warped pirate parrot. Your Wreckage Tag is a Tag now. It works like any other for building your dice pool, which means it complicates your actions and it is a specific thing the Cathedral did not plan for when they designed their security for intact human beings. (You subtract or add dice, following the fiction). You are no longer an intact human being. You may no longer even be human. You’re deeply unsure. Once per Zone, spend an effort to invoke any one Wreckage Tag to do the impossible (except inflict direct harm against the Pastor and other major enemies or strip Influence from people like the Tithe Collector). There are multiple outdoor cats on my street. There are also coyotes that mosey over from the nearby cemetery. I've seen entrails picked clean on my apartment complex's front lawn, and I don't know if they were there because of a cat or a coyote but why would you risk it?

She'd sneak them inside the house occasionally, but at least she was a neat eater—I'd find a head, but no blood or entrails around it. I was not happy about her hunting even back then, but keeping a cat indoors never occurred to people 50, 60 years ago. We just didn't know all the harms.
