#EnviroSci
I'm just now, at 32, transferring out of community college and to a four year school. Going into envirosci. I'm doing this right now of all times. It's dicey, but I rather do that now and get a better job than stay in retail any longer.

I'll navigate college despite the clankers.

I had math major friends help me with envirosci equations, english majors to proof my papers, and history/anthro majors to help me with my research!

The key thing is that when I'm up at 3am working hard, it's 11am in England and they're bright and chipper and happy to help lol.

Sometimes research sucks and that’s a good thing. #envirosci

For the most recent #EnviroSci homework students made .GIFs using #NASA's Worldview to practice describing data and now my inbox is full of these:

Maybe make it a field trip to a couple interesting envirosci hotspots in the city, that happens to use public transit, as a way to not make people as inantilized

BIG congrats to Katie on winning best envirosci poster at #SAMURS!

sometimes also known on here as @lenjordana.bsky.social my pseudonym for (in theory) posting about envirosci & related

Trying (with little success) to start getting some of my envirosci classmates a little more aware of class and material conditions driving much of what we study...

sometimes better known on here as @lenjordana.bsky.social my pseudonym for, in theory, posting/essays about envirosci. except usually i get too annoyed and log out.

i was thinking i should attend some of the local land mgmt / envirosci conferences if I can next year. but i'll probably have to stick to blogging if i want to publish anything

wet bulb temps are probably the worst thing for people who dont understand envirosci to be in charge of fighting but so it goes

I am now! It's funny, I started off as BioChem, moved to CompSci, then EnviroSci & finally realized that geography was the one place I could really combined everything from my love of science & spatial/temporal relationships, with my love of computers & tech. Talk about a weird but fun journey!

As a geog/envirosci major I found it so helpful that 1 paper was focused on humanities & the other was a super dense science paper. Both written & read so very differently, & as it was P/F with no homework or tests, we could really just meet up and talk without worrying about grades. I believe...

Sounds similar to what Allison Carruth created at UCLA IOES. One of the best courses I took as an EnviroSci student and really shaped my knowledge of SciComm.

Her personal website is also pretty great - allisoncarruth.com

I remember one EnviroSci course that ended up just being 4 real students out of 60. After roll call, we'd just move into the small lab and have the class there and leave the rest to their business.

Unfortunately that was more common than uncommon at the 5 CC's I went to in the Los Angeles area.

And two more... Clarke's books are incredible and fun to read, and Kolberts book is one I was first introduced to in a EnviroSci class and it's a must read. There's a reason so many universities use it for their classes.

Hope this helps! 💙📚💡

My college years were full of twist, turns, and discernment. Looking back - I have always been called to ministry. I just had to pretend to be a scientist first. I do cherish my EnviroSci life tho
